Origami at Work?

May 10th

It was pretty slow today so naturally I looked up origami diagrams :) (I have lots of fun at work....some days anyways)

Bunny: Was unique with being square and all but it was pretty easy.

Penguin: I asked my manager what her favorite animal was and she said "Penguin". So after 10min I finally found a cool origami penguin, BOY was it challenging! It took my quite awhile I even had to watch the video because the diagram was too hard to understand in some parts. But it turned out great and is now on my managers bulitain board in her office ;)

Small Group at the Park

May 13th

Today for small group we ate dinner at our place and then walked to the park 3 blocks from our apartment :) we played around for a bit on the fun structure, what can I say we are still kids, and then the guys( Ryan, Jon, & Mike) went off to play tennis and the girls(Mary, Megan, and I) spread out a blanket and talked :) the weather was perfect and the conversation was great, mostly about marriage (all newly married), children (Mary & Jon are expecting their first), and family. I love them all to death, they are awesome friends!

Fishing & "Camping In"

In April and May Ryan was getting the itch, the itch to go fishing! It was all he talked about, haha ;) he finally got license and found his old tackle box and fishing pole and got out there. The next time he went out I got license and borrowed a pole from my parents and we caught 2 decent sized crappie, perfect for our dinner.

And with us being in the outdoorsy mood we decided to finally set up the tent we got as wedding gift but inside our apartment! It took up our whole living room, it's a pretty great tent! We fully intended to "camp in" that night but as we laid there, and I was about to fall asleep Ryan said "why are we sleeping out here on the floor instead of our bed in the other room?" "because it's fun" I said .... (dead silence while we both feel how hard the floor is and think about how much better we'd sleep in the bed) ... Then in unison "let's sleep in the bed" haha so it was a fun evening of fishing and "camping" and ended with a great nights sleep on our pillow top mattress. ;)

HE IS RISEN!

Good Friday

For this years Good Friday service at church the youth were put in charge of the service. We only had a couple months notice but the leadership team came up with some ideas and then we worked the details out with the kids and I think it tuned out great.

I wrote skit about 4 high school kids during study hall. 2 were believers and 2 were not. In the skit the believers get to share their faith by telling the story Good Friday. Once they finish with Jesus being buried they ask "that's it! He just dies!? Doesn't he come back to life like he said he would?" (the school bell rings) and the believers invite them to come to church on Sunday to find out what happens 3 days later.

After that we did communion and showed a video compilation of the Jesus movies to the "Revelation Song" by Kari Jobe (very powerful) and ended with people being able to dip their fingers in red paint and mark on a cross the youth had built as they left the service.

"How deep the Father's love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory

Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice,
Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that left Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom"

A Walk in the Park

Grandpa & Grandma came for a visit in April, they took us out for dinner and then we went for a walk at Walker Johnson Park. The flowers were beautiful, and somewhere along the way we just couldn't seem to find Ryan or my siblings but we saw a pretty awesome statue ;P

6:30am (alarm, fog, & glory)

At 6:30 this morning when my alarm went off the last thing I wanted to do was get out of bed. How about curling up by my husband all cozy and warm under the covers..... but no such thing could happen, reality was I had to get up and get ready to work someone else's shift (because of spring break). Which consisted of me getting out of bed like a sloth and slowly making my way to the bathroom. Thankfully I showered yesterday so no need for another shower. Khakis, black polo, teeth, hair, makeup, deodorant, perfume, and I'm ready for the day. I snatched a pop-tart and my water bottle for breakfast and left over spaghetti for lunch. Grabbed my purse, bag, and keys and headed out the door. And what do I find? A beautiful foggy morning, and through my lazy, feel sorry for myself attitude sliced God's majesty. Thoughts flashed of the water cycle and all it's forms; the earth and the life it holds. God so uniquely and wonderfully made everything with a purpose far greater than we can see. So God used this beautiful foggy morning to change my attitude for the day. "Glorify me" He seemed to say, "even though it's 7am and you're tired". So now I'm sitting at work yawning yes, but with a changed attitude (praise the Lord that he would change it). I'll make the most of this day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it, giving Him the glory throughout my day by loving Him and others. :) Have a happy Friday everyone!!

Don't Worry, We Are Alive!!!

Wow, let's see it's been FOREVER since I have posted...July 2011...really!!! Okay that's waaaay too long! Time to get back on track! But first here's what we've been up to since July 2011.....

-We've been married for 10 months! :)
-I shot 5 family sessions, 1 infant session, 1 band session, and 1 senior session
-Ryan started an internship at our church working with youth and worship ministries
-We Started a small group with some of our closest friends and we've a added a few new ones
-I finished school and got my Photography Diploma!!!!
-Ryan got his Culinary Diploma
-Ryan started Antioch School through our Church to get a Bible teaching Degree
-I started working mornings and afternoons at The UPS Store (yay no more working till 6:45pm)
-I made my biggest purchase on one item ever in my entire life (a new tv)
-We have both gotten very skilled at washing dishes by hand
-We got health insurance!!! :D with maternity (valid 1-1-13 ;)
-I got my fist speeding ticket :/
-We joined the YMCA
-I read the whole "Inheritance Cycle" by Christopher Paolini
-I watched 5 kids for 24hours with Ryan (I've done this many times but doing it with Ryan was quite fun, he's just praying we don't have 5 kids all at once)
-Ryan called the cops on our apartment neighbors for smoking pot (they got evicted)
-I met more of Ryan's side of the family at (sadly) a funeral for his Great Grandma
-We both got iphones ;) (which I just found an app for blogger, so that I can post here more often!)
-I learned how to share my computer with Ryan (and that is partially why I have not posted for so long, his computer went kaput so we have had to share mine, so I normally I only have it in the evenings when I want to spend time with him, so yay for letting him sleep in while I blog this morning! :D)
-Had to stay in the United States while the rest of my family went to Venezuela for my dads sabbatical and my Grandparents went to Japan to see my Aunt, Uncle, and Cousins. :(
-Finally hung stuff up on our walls :D
-Didn't have to shovel any snow this year!
-realized that this list is probably long enough ;P

So yeah, there is some of our life since the last time I posted. Now to look forward.
I am going to try to update this more so our family a friends that we don't get to see as often can stay connected to us and what's going on with us, and also to document our life together and be able to look back and reminiscence on all of the memories we made together. So TTFN, and look forward for more to come! :D
